Abstract:

Background: This research was conducted with the aim of identifying prevention strategies for shin-splint injury in VOLLEYBALL. Methods: The research method was a mixed qualitative-quantitative type. The participants in the qualitative part were 12 sports pathology specialists and physiotherapists who were selected purposefully. Theoretical saturation was achieved in the 10th interview, but two more interviews were also conducted and coded according to the data-based method in three stages of open, central and selective coding. The samples of the quantitative part were specialists in the field of sports pathology, physiotherapists, male and female VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS, and VOLLEYBALL coaches. The items of the questionnaire were prepared according to the model and its validity was confirmed by 5 members of the sports science faculty. Results: in three categories of structural factors (preventive or preventive actions, knowledge and ability, main causes of disease, lack of time, structural, coordination, semi-structural factors and management and planning), behavioral factors (physical characteristics, Personality characteristics, attitude changes, intra-personal factors and extra-personal factors) and environmental factors (physical and environmental factors, physical and cultural characteristics, communication system and media performance) were divided. The results of factor analysis showed that environmental, structural and behavioral factors respectively have the highest factor load among the prevention strategies for shin splints in VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Conclusion: Some environmental factors can be controlled, and by controlling them, shin-splint damage can be prevented, such as using suitable shoes and changing them on time,  and training on surfaces that absorb the impacts of the activity well.

Abstract:

VOLLEYBALL is one of the most popular sports among the female athletes. Although VOLLEYBALL is considered as a non-contact game, high incidence of injuries are reported for VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Knee injuries are one of the most common types of injuries in VOLLEYBALL. This study aimed to review the literature regarding the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries focused on the VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. A review literature was conducted via searches in Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed, EBSCO host (Medline Database, Sport Discus), and Science Direct (2011 to march 2021) using various key terms such as "anterior cruciate ligament" and "knee injury". Based on the evidences, although the internal and external risk factors for ACL injury have been extensively studied, the biomechanical factors that expose athletes to this injury are still unclear. To answer the specific question of the present study, different factors associated with ACL injury especially in female’, s athletes, a comprehensive review of basic and applied studies is necessary. In this paper, after explaining about ACL injuries extracted from articles, the role and application of ACL, its mechanics and patho-mechanics have been discussed. Also, occurrences of ACL injury in VOLLEYBALL ranks among the other sports, athlete/non-athletes, gender and age of PLAYERS, is divided as well. It is believed that biomechanical and neuromuscular differences in the trunk and lower limbs are the most likely reason for the significant difference in the high prevalence of non-collision ACL injury in female compared to men.

Abstract:

Background: Excessive repetitions of the landing and jumping task are a key risk factor for lower extremity injury (specially ACL) in female VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Aim: this study investigates the effect of Sports-Metrics VOLLEYBALL Training (SMVT) on landing technique in female VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Materials and Methods: The participants of this study were 25 female young VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS and randomly divided into training (TG, n=13) and control groups (CG, n=12). The TG performed SMVT for 18 sessions, and the CG performed their regular training. Landing error scoring system (LESS) test were used for assessing landing errors. SPSS (version 25) was used to analyze the statistical data (P<0. 05). Results: The results of the data analysis showed a significant improvement (P=0. 01) in LESS in TG (from 8. 62 to 5. 54), but no significant changes in CG the LESS (P=0. 62, from 8. 00 to 8. 23). Eighteen sessions SMVT reduced the landing error by 35. 73% in the TG. Conclusion: Base on previous research the SMVT reduces lower extremity injuries and the results of this study showed that SMVT significant improvement the landing technique. Therefore, performing SMVT is recommended for female VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS because it is effective in both preventing injuries and improving landing technique.

Abstract:

Introduction: Kinetics parameters are known as some of the main reasons of VOLLEYBALL injuries resulting from landing during performing various skills. Information about lower extremity kinetics in landing will help to understand characteristics of various injuries and develop injury prevention programs. So the aim of the present study was kinetical analysis of predictive injuries parameters during landing in VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Materials and Methods: Eighteen junior male VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS (Age: 17. 78±, 0. 94yrs) were asked to perform three maximal blockjump on a force platform. The data of force (Fmax, Fmin), impulse (I), loading rates (LRmax, LRmax-min), time to stabilization (TS), time to peak forces (TPF) and time to maximum to minimum force (TFmax-min) variables were extracted andanalyzed. Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was employed to investigate possible relationship between kinetics and temporal landing parameters of block jump in participants. Results: The results showed significant correlations between some variables including Fmax with LRmax, LRmax-min and TPF, Fmin with TS, LRmax with Fmax, LRmax-min and TPF, LRmax-min with Fmax, LRmax, TPF and TFmax-min, TS with Fmin, TPF with Fmax, LRmax, and LRmax-min, TFmax-min with LRmax-minduring landing in VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Conclusion: Biomechanists and sports injury expertise should monitor both of temporal and kinetic variables with respect to performance optimization as well as decreasing injury prevalence.

Abstract:

Background and purpose: Shoulder injuries are very common among VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Functional disability of shoulder is one of the most important reasons for the PLAYERS’ absence in match and training sessions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of shoulder pain and functional disability among Iranian premier league VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS and also to determine the correlation between pain prevalence and functional disability with some factors such as age, gender, body type and the activity of these PLAYERS.Materials and methods: Following ethical approval from the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, a cross-sectional study was carried out on 103 VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS of whom 55 were male (mean age 23.21±3.80 years old, mean height 190.69±8.77 cm and mean weight 84.60±10.4 Kg) and 48 were female (mean age 24.0±7.63 years old, mean height 170.94±4.72 cm and mean weight 61.42±6.58 Kg). Information including demographic and sport characteristics were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire. Visual Analogue Scale questionnaire was completed to determine the pain intensity and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire was used in order to assess the functional disability. Results: The results indicated that 22% of the VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS reported pain at the time of completing the questionnaire (point prevalence); 29% during last six months; 36% during last year and 38% suffered during their lifetime. Almost 70% reported a level of functional disability with the average DASH score of 12.7±9.2. No significant difference was found in pain intensity and functional disability of shoulder between male and female VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS (P>0.05). Moreover, we found a significant correlation between pain prevalence and body mass index, level of sport, number of training days per week, number of training sessions per week and number of training sessions per day (P<0.05).Conclusion: This research found a high prevalence of shoulder pain and functional shoulder disability among Iranian premier league VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS. Considering identified risk factors, more focus on preventive strategies is recommended to prevent shoulder injuries among Iranian VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS.
